“Disco Funk Edits Vol 1” is our third edit series with the label, this time we wanted to pay tribute to the roots of electronic dance music.
We asked our favorite artists JONAHLO, JOINT4NINE, RUSH CITY and NICO FATCAT to select carefully one of their most influential Disco-Funk tracks of all time and make an edit more suitable for the dance floor.

The release starts with “Lies” (1980) by New York group GQ; In this edit we can notice how Jonahlo turns the original track into a more House beat version by changing the structure and making a special sampling rework finale as he always does.

The second edit is a very rare disco funk called “Soft Touch” (1983) from legendary Jamaican producer Ernest Ranglin. Rush City decided to turn the track into an acid disco journey by playing with the parts, adding percussion sounds and turning the bass into a more hypnotic 303 electro acid house line.

The third edit is the African disco bomb “Play Me” (1978) by Jo Bisso: In this edit Nico Fatcat selected the more euphoric parts of the 16-minute extravaganza, mixed them together and turned it into a new more danceable version.

The last but not least is an edit for the track called “Mack Man (Got To Get Over)” (1973) by American singer and musician Willie Hutch; in this edit Joint4Nine made a complete new beat version turning the beatless original track into a dancefloor heater.
